Air Asia Lost My Luggage.

Well, it’s finally happened. I had a piece of luggage go missing. So far on all my travels, I have never really suffered much of a loss.’

We flew a relatively short flight from Bangkok to Cambodia on Air Asia. My wife and I checked in together, our suitcases were right next to each other. When we arrived at Phnom Penh, her suitcase came out, mine didn’t. Not having the faintest clue what to do, I contacted the airport lost and found, who took a report and my claim ticket and gave me a copy of the report with instructions to contact them 24 hours later.

I’ve been a bit stressed since our arrival, as all my chargers were in my check-in (lesson learned, they’re coming with me on carry-on from now on) as well as a brand new pair of sandals, a couple other pairs of shoes and well worn, but quality travel clothes. It’s not even a matter of replacing them, as you know I’m a fat b*st*rd and buying clothes in Asia is difficult if not near impossible.

So… while waiting for airport staff to follow up, I checked the AirAsia site, something I could not do until I got to the hotel, with internet.

What should I do if I my baggage is lost?
If you’ve not received your baggage,  please contact AirAsia’s Central Baggage Tracing Office.  For International flights please call  +603-87776641 and +603-87776604 for Domestic flights.  If you’d like to track your baggage, please logon to Manage My Booking on AirAsia’s website with your PIR number.

Ok. That seems straight forward enough, except it wasn’t. Apparently calling the number gets you either a loud beep followed by hangup or else a “number has been disconnected” sound.

I posted on their Facebook, and it was promptly deleted.

I found an e-mail form on their site and got this automated response:

This is just a quick note to let you know that we have received your feedback  (Case Number : CAS-1230995-R9V28X).

We’ll get back to you within 5 working days. We appreciate your patience as we continue to respond to every email we receive.

Wow… 5 days? Really?

Can I hope to get my bag by the time I’m in Chiang Mai? 🙁 Wish I wore my more comfortable shorts on the plane now, lol.

Anyway, I’m quite frustrated and the only response is an autoreply thus far. I hope the Phnom Penh staff has more luck than I am having.
