(Earthquake) Survival Sunday…

Cell towers may well be down and services are cut off for a while, you may find the need to split up. Perhaps someone wants to assess the neighborhood, or go for supplies (bit late for that!), or needs to seek help for a medical emergency.

Communication is important, so a couple of these are both inexpensive and at the same time priceless. They are a bit more complicated than the short range FRS radios, so you’ll need to familiarize yourself with them in advance. You may also need a HAM license to operate on certain bands.

At < $30 per transceiver, though, it’s really a no brainer to have a few of these around. Once you coordinate with like minded individuals, you can share frequencies and mutual aid may be no further than a radio call away.
